
The Anambra State Police Command has recovered the body of a yet-to-be-identified individual found hanging from a tree in a bush at Amichi, in the Nnewi South Local Government Area.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the discovery was made after an anonymous individual used the deceased’s phone to alert authorities about the incident.
Ikenga confirmed that the body has since been evacuated and deposited in a mortuary, while efforts are underway to identify and contact the deceased’s family for necessary procedures.
He further disclosed that the Command has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. “The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed officers and men of the Command to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to curb criminal activities across the state,” Ikenga stated.
“The CP has also tasked the investigative team to unravel the mystery behind the disturbing discovery made on May 16, 2025, when a lifeless body was found hanging from a mango tree in a secluded area of Amichi.”
