Operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command have repelled an attack by gunmen in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The gunmen were said to have attacked the policemen attached to a construction company working in the area.

Details of the incident were still sketchy at the time of filling this report, but a source said the incident happened at Omege Noyo area of the Ikwo council.

The gunmen were said to have attacked the policemen on Friday, but the cops engaged them in shootout.

The source said one of the gunmen was killed during the shootout while a police officer was injured and in critical condition at a hospital.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident but noted she was yet to get full details of what happened.
