Police Inspector Arrested for Alleged ₦915,000 Rice Supply Fraud

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a serving police inspector over an alleged ₦915,000 fraud in a failed rice supply deal.

According to police sources, the officer allegedly collected the money in January 2024 from a complainant after promising to deliver 20 bags of rice, but failed to supply the goods or refund the money.

The matter was formally reported on September 11, 2025, at about 2:34 p.m., after repeated attempts by the complainant to recover the funds proved futile.

Investigators eventually traced the officer to her residence in the Olusosun area of Ojota, where she was arrested and taken into custody.

During interrogation, the inspector reportedly confessed to the offence and is currently being held for disciplinary action, while further investigations continue.
