The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows. The new enforcement date is now set for October 2, 2025.
In a statement on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the decision followed a surge in applications submitted via the official portal, reflecting increased public compliance with the directive.
Adejobi explained that the extension was necessary to allow more time for the thorough scrutiny of applications, ensuring that permits are issued only to eligible and qualified individuals in line with national security considerations.
“The additional time will also enable the continued fine-tuning of both digital and physical verification processes to uphold the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse,” he said.
The Police reaffirmed that the only authorized platform for applications remains https://possap.gov.ng, urging citizens to ignore any unofficial channels. Members of the public are also encouraged to report cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the relevant authorities through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
