Police Condemn Officers Seen Trailing Actress Angela Okorie in Viral Video, Launch Investigation

The Nigeria Police Force has responded to a viral video showing armed officers trailing Nollywood actress Angela Okorie as she jogged, expressing disapproval of the officers’ actions and launching an investigation into the incident.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, described the officers’ behavior as “clearly inconsistent” with the professional standards expected of police personnel.

“The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged,an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force,” the statement read.

While there are suggestions that the incident may have occurred on or near a movie set, the Force noted that regardless of the context, the behavior displayed by the officers has sparked widespread public concern and criticism.

“It remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production,” the statement continued, “but the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.”

Adejobi added that internal administrative procedures have begun to identify the officers involved and to fully determine the context of the video. Appropriate disciplinary actions will follow based on the findings.

The Force reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and maintaining public trust.
