The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of a notorious cult group during a tactical operation in the Owode-Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects — Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon — were arrested following an intelligence-led raid carried out by one of the Command’s tactical teams, acting on a credible tip-off.
During the operation, officers recovered a locally made pistol and six live cartridges from the suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio are active members of a cult group linked to a series of violent crimes across Lagos.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the suspects were also involved in the trafficking and distribution of illegal firearms, posing a significant threat to public safety.
Efforts are currently underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the group. The arrested suspects, according to the police, will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the Command’s firm stance against cultism and related criminal activities.
“The Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. We urge members of the public to continue providing credible information that can assist our operations,” CP Jimoh said.
