NECO Disowns Fake Facebook Account Impersonating Registrar

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has dissociated itself from a fraudulent Facebook account created in the name of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the Council alerted the public to the existence of the fake account, warning that it was set up with the intent to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

“The Council wishes to draw the attention of the public to the existence of this fake Facebook account in order to avoid being swindled by the fraudsters,” the statement read.

NECO emphasized that neither the Registrar nor the Council conducts official communication or transactions through personal social media accounts.

The Council also confirmed that relevant security agencies have been notified and are taking appropriate action to identify and prosecute those behind the impersonation.
