Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested six male armed robbery suspects and recovered firearms, drugs, and other incriminating exhibits in separate operations across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Saturday.
According to him, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, arrested four suspects on August 22, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m. They include Samuel Chisom Okpubo (23), Steven Agwu (26), Elijah Umah (27), and Ifenre Ifebuche (22).
Items recovered from them include one firearm, an expended cartridge, substances suspected to be methamphetamine (popularly known as Mkpuru-miri), and other incriminating exhibits.
Ndukwe explained that their arrest followed the confessional statement of Uzor Okwudili (23), who had earlier been apprehended by operatives of the Abakpa Division for cultism, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects are members of the Black Axe Confraternity, while the others confessed to belonging to the Vikings Confraternity.
In a related development, on August 19, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m., the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, stormed Ogor-Affa in Udi LGA and arrested Emehelu Nichodemus a.k.a. “SP Fado” (48). A locally made pistol was recovered from him, and he confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reassured residents of the Command’s renewed commitment to rid Enugu State of criminal elements, urging the public to remain law-abiding and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.
