Spokesperson of the Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed in a statement that the suspects were apprehended at about 12:45 a.m. by a police patrol team attached to the Iperu Remo Division.

According to her, a Mitsubishi Spacewagon vehicle with registration number Lagos AKD 887 HT, conveying three occupants—Mr. Toryem Joe-Stans and Ms. Mandara Aminat (both INEC officials), as well as their driver—was intercepted in the area.

“During a search of the vehicle, the team recovered a cash sum of ₦2,500,000.00 (two million, five hundred thousand naira) found in possession of Mr. Joe-Stans Toryem,” Odutola stated.

She added that during interrogation, Toryem confessed to having collected the money at Kehoy Hotel in Iperu from an individual he identified only as ‘Political Solution.’
