Police Arrest Five Over Alleged Sexual Harassment at Ozoro Festival

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five individuals over alleged sexual harassment and molestation of women during a festival in Ozoro.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the arrests followed viral videos showing disturbing scenes from the incident.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, strongly condemned the acts after reviewing footage reportedly from Oramudu quarters in Ozoro, located in Isoko North Local Government Area. The videos allegedly captured cases of sexual assault and harassment of young women during a local event.

The police described the acts as criminal, inhumane, and a serious violation of the victims’ rights and dignity. Following the development, the police boss ordered an immediate investigation, leading to the arrest of the chief organiser and other suspects.

The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action, while security operatives have been deployed to identify and apprehend other individuals involved.

The command also appealed to victims and witnesses to come forward with useful information, assuring them of confidentiality and professionalism. Residents were urged to remain calm and law-abiding, as authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.
