Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of reneging on its commitment to sponsor her younger sister, Ruth, for medical treatment abroad after a tragic accident involving one of the company’s trucks.
According to UGAMA TV, Ruth was hit on August 13, 2025, by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an underage, unlicensed driver near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, barely six days after her graduation. The accident led to the amputation of her left leg, while her right leg remains at risk.
In a series of emotional updates on Wednesday, Phyna revealed that Ruth’s condition was worse than she had initially disclosed to the public, noting that she has been in ongoing communication with representatives of the Dangote Group.
She alleged that the company initially agreed to her request to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment but later transferred her to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos pending further arrangements. After Phyna submitted the requested medical report, she claimed the company backtracked, saying it would first seek additional medical advice before making a decision.
Phyna further stated that the company later demanded another report from Lagoon Hospital to prove that Ruth’s case could not be managed locally. She lamented that her messages to the Dangote official handling the matter have gone unanswered for over 24 hours.
Calling on Aliko Dangote to intervene personally, Phyna wrote:
“My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care, and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle.”
The reality TV star urged the Dangote Group to honor its promise, stressing that delays could cost her sister her life.
