Peter Obi Donates ₦15 Million to Bauchi Nursing and Quranic Schools

The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated a total of ₦15 million to two educational institutions in Bauchi State,  the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and the Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School, in a gesture aimed at supporting health education and moral upbringing.

The donations, made on Friday during his visit to the schools, were split into ₦10 million for the nursing college and ₦5 million for the Quranic school.

Speaking at the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Obi underscored the critical role nurses play in Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system.

“You are very important to the society, you are very important to this country called Nigeria. If there is anything we can do to support what you are doing, we need to do it,” he said.

The former Anambra State governor noted that a nation’s true measure of success begins with the health of its people, and that human infrastructure is at the heart of healthcare.

“The nurse is important. The nurse knows the patient, the nurse owns the patient, the nurse is everything,” Obi emphasised.

He revealed that he has visited and supported around 70 nursing schools annually as part of his long-standing commitment to improving the health sector.

In their separate remarks, the proprietors of the two institutions, Aminu Danmaliki of Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Alhaji Usman Abubakar of Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School, praised Obi for his generosity. They assured that the funds would be judiciously utilised to enhance learning and improve the welfare of students.
