A new political support group, the Peter Mbah Progressive Movement (PMPM), has been unveiled in Enugu with a mission to galvanise grassroots support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
The Enugu North Senatorial District chapter of the group was inaugurated on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre Enugu. Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, who also serves as the convener and grand patron of the movement, described PMPM as a departure from conventional support groups.
According to Onyia, the initiative is built on grassroots-driven mobilisation, data-based engagement, and a focused objective of securing the governor’s second term. He noted that members are genuinely committed, unlike past groups that lacked consistency and direction.
He further highlighted the inclusion of youths and emerging voices, stressing that the movement is working in alignment with existing party structures to broaden awareness of the administration’s achievements and strengthen public support.
Also speaking, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Osinachi Nnajieze, praised the initiative, describing it as a sincere and people-driven movement. As the state coordinator, he urged members to remain dedicated to promoting the government’s achievements across key sectors such as infrastructure, security, education, and economic growth.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government and Deputy Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in the state, Ferdinand Ukwueze, reaffirmed strong backing from the Nsukka zone. He pointed to ongoing projects, including road construction, enhanced security measures, Smart Green Schools, and upgraded primary healthcare centres as evidence of the administration’s impact.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Frank Anioma, emphasised the group’s inclusive structure and called on members to focus on voter education and strategic mobilisation to effectively communicate government achievements.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Martin Chukwunweike, described the movement as a supportive force that complements party efforts. He noted that the large turnout at the inauguration reflects growing grassroots acceptance and confidence in Governor Mbah’s leadership.
