PDP SAYS: Bye election, No court disqualified Plateau South candidate

Ahead of the December 5 Plateau South Senatorial bye-election, the Peoples Democratic Party has dismissed reports that its candidate, George Daika, has been disqualified by the court.

The State PDP Chairman, Chris Hassan, gave the clarification at a press conference, in Jos, on Wednesday.

He accused the rival All Progressives Congress of being the brains behind the rumour.

Hassan said, “We find it mandatory at this moment to set the record straight and clear the air that there has never been and there is no subsisting order from any court setting aside the candidature of George Edwards Daika, of the Peoples Democratic Party, contrary to the fake news of the mischief merchants of the APC.

“While we have continuously restated our commitment to a free, fair and non-violent process, we are saddened by APC’s intention to vote-buying and massive rigging, a party that lacks democratic ingredients and have since be rejected by the populace.”

The party appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that every legitimate vote counts on the day of the election.
