PDP Govs meet over zoning Wednesday, sub-committees meet today

GOVERNORS elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party will on Wednesday meet in Abuja, to make inputs into proposals put forward by the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi-led zoning committee ahead of the October 30-31 national convention.

It was gathered in Abuja, on Monday that notices for the meeting have been sent out to all of the governors who are expected to be in Abuja for the crucial meeting.

UGAMATV had reported that a leaked document indicated that the zoning committee had zoned the office of National Chairman to the South and the office of the National Secretary to the North.

This has elicited subtle protests from party members from the South East who had expected the chairmanship position to be zoned to the North to pave the way for the South to produce the party’s Presidential standard bearer.

In a related development, two of the 15 sub-committees, the Contact and Mobilization as well as the Transport Committee have scheduled meetings for today (Tuesday).

The Ndudi Elumelu-led contact and mobilization sub-committee in a notice sent out to members on Monday, said the its inaugural meeting will hold at NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja at 3:00pm while the Ex-Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo-led transportation sub-committee will also meet at the same venue at 12:00 noon.
