The founder and president of Abel Damina Ministries International (ADMI), Pastor Abel Damina, has once again stirred controversy with bold remarks challenging traditional Christian teachings. In a viral clip from a recent Sunday sermon, Damina asserted that church offerings and tithes are not given to God but are instead used and spent by people.
“No offering goes to heaven. Men spend it every time we gather offerings in this church. All the offerings we give to God go to men,” he declared.
Known for his critical stance on popular Christian doctrines, Damina emphasized that many teachings around tithing are designed to manipulate congregants. “Even those tithe mongers that say when you pay tithe, the doors of heaven will open—the doors have been open since Jesus rose from the dead. They’ve never been closed. These pastors are just working on people’s minds,” he said.
This sermon follows a similar uproar in January 2025 when Damina claimed that smoking and drinking are not sins in Christianity, a statement that sparked intense debate across religious communities.
Addressing criticism over his stance on tithing, Damina said, “I heard some saying I’m evil because I told people not to pay tithe. One even said ‘he and his children will pay tithe.’ He has to talk like that to keep collecting from people.”
The preacher also accused many church leaders of hypocrisy, stating that those who insist on the importance of tithing often fail to practice what they preach.
Damina’s remarks have triggered fresh discussion online, with reactions split between support for his transparency and criticism from those defending traditional church teachings.
