OYO, EKITI COMMISSIONERS RECOVER FROM COVID-19

The Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olawale Fapohunda, and the Oyo State Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu  Olatubosun, have recovered from COVID-19

Fapohunda made the disclosure in a tweet on his Twitter handle on Sunday.

He twitted, “Thankful for all the prayers and words of encouragement. My two separate COVID-19 tests returned negative. I am up and walking about. To God be the Glory!”

Fapohunda had on July 26, 2020, disclosed on his Twitter handle that he tested positive for COVID-19 and went into isolation.

The disclosure was made a few days after the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, tested positive for the virus, following which he ordered members of his cabinet and aides to go for COVID-19 test to ascertain their statuses.

Fayemi, however, tested negative after 11 days in isolation.

Olatubosun announced his new status after 46 days in isolation in statement on Sunday.

He said the Oyo State Emergency Operation Centre and the medical team of the COVID-19 Task Force gave him a clean bill of health after testing negative twice.

Governor Seyi Makinde also tested positive and recovered from the virus.

The governor had on June 24 directed all members of the State Executive Council to undergo COVID-19 tests immediately to ascertain the extent of community transmission of the virus in the state.

Five members tested positive, including Olatubosun. The other four were discharged after testing negative 14 days ago.

Olatubosun said, “I will like to give thanks to the Almighty God for showing me mercy during this period and as always, my sincere appreciation also goes to the chairman of the task force in the state, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his unrelenting support during my one and a half months in isolation.

“I cannot forget in a hurry the support from religious leaders, most especially the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the League of Imams and Alfas as well as the traditionalists.”
