Israel Rules Out Troop Withdrawal From Lebanon Despite US-Iran Deal

Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz has said that Israel would not withdraw from Lebanon and any territory it has seized.

Katz made this statement on Monday following Sunday’s announcement of a memorandum or understanding between the US and Iran.

He said that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were leading a clear policy under which the Israel Defense Forces would remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza indefinitely.

The area will be cleared of local residents and all terrorist infrastructure, above and below ground — including the houses in the contact villages that served as terrorist outposts — will be destroyed,” Katz said.

NEWSMEN reports that United States President Donald Trump on Sunday announced what he described as the completion of a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the time of filing this report, Netanyahu is yet to comment on the announced US-Iran understanding.
