The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday officially unveiled the Sharafadeen Alli as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party also presented Adesoji Adedeji as Alli’s running mate during a ceremony held in Ibadan.
The presentation of nomination forms to the duo came more than a month after the party’s governorship primary, which was contested by several aspirants, including former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
Following the primary, the Oyo APC dismissed as fake the governorship election results circulating on social media and some news platforms, insisting that only the party’s national secretariat had the authority to announce the official outcome after collation and verification.
Speaking at the unveiling, the party’s Deputy National Auditor, Gbenga Olayemi, urged members to unite behind the party’s candidates, saying their support would strengthen the APC’s bid to reclaim power in Oyo State.
He formally presented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to Alli, describing him as the party’s authentic governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
In his acceptance speech, Alli, who currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, announced Adedeji, an indigene of the Ogbomoso area, as his running mate.
He described his emergence as the party’s candidate as a victory for unity, perseverance, democracy, peace and prosperity, adding that it also reflected the collective aspirations of APC members committed to progressive politics.
Also speaking, the Oyo APC Chairman, Moses Adeyemo, said the party was determined to end its eight-year spell in opposition by winning the 2027 governorship election.
He urged members to set aside past grievances and work together to ensure the party’s success at the polls.
The event also featured the unveiling of the APC’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and the Oyo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election.
