Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reaffirmed his commitment to helping Nigeria secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles missed out on automatic qualification after finishing second behind South Africa in Group C. They will now compete in the World Cup playoffs next month alongside Gabon, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nigeria will face Gabon’s Panthers in the semi-final of the playoffs.
Osimhen, who scored a hat-trick in Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in their last group game, expressed his determination to lead the team to the global stage.
“We need to work hard and fight for these goals. I want to be in the World Cup with my country. I am giving my everything there too,” Osimhen told Sporx.
“My focus is here now. Next month is the World Cup playoffs. I will help my teammates with my goals, assists, and everything.”
The Galatasaray forward has been in impressive form for both club and country and remains one of Nigeria’s key hopes ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
