Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has explained the reasons behind his decision to join the London club after parting ways with Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international, who previously played for Manchester United, completed a surprise move to Stamford Bridge following a reported fallout with United’s manager, Ruben Amorim.
Speaking about his transfer, Garnacho said he was drawn to Chelsea by the club’s ambitions and the opportunity to develop further under head coach Enzo Maresca.
“When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s also important the style of play we have,” Garnacho told Sports Illustrated.
“He explained a lot to me in a video call with him. It’s a big chance to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea.”
Garnacho has already made an impact at his new club, scoring Chelsea’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Premier League over the weekend.
