Ondo Assembly confirms Akeredolu’s commissioner-nominees

The Ondo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of 14 new commissioner-nominees whose names were sent to it by the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu.

A letter of request for the confirmation of the appointment of the nominees, signed by Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, had earlier been forwarded to the House, after which the nominees appeared before the Selection Committee of the House for screening.

Presenting the report of the selection committee at plenary on Thursday, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Samuel Aderoboye, informed the House that the 14 nominees had been screened and found competent to serve as commissioners in Ondo State.

He also requested that the nominees be called to step forward before the lawmakers for confirmation of their appointments. The nominees were thereafter called outside for ratification of their appointments followed by a voice vote by majority of lawmakers who attended the plenary.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun, who congratulated the newly confirmed commissioners, said they were appointed on the basis of their track records.

He charged the new commissioners-designate to work with Governor Akeredolu to enhance the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Ondo State.
