The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has joins numerous well wishers both at home and in the Diaspora to felicitate with a quintessential Igbo icon Chief Mbazulike Amechi (Dara Akunuwafor) aka, The Boy is Good as he marks his 92 years birthday.
Ambassador Professor George Obiozor, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo made the remarks on Thursday through a press release where he described him as a quintessential Titan, icon and trail blaze, who with his uncompromising principlespò and patriotism and extra-ordinary struggles brought about Nigerian independence.
“Ohaaeze Ndigbo recalls with freshness how you deprived yourself the bloom of youth to fight for Nigerian independence. On several occasions, you were arrested and detained by the colonial authorities and in more than two occasions you preferred imprisonment instead of bowing to the oppressors. Other audacious youths who volunteered in that sacred obligation include Osita Agwuna, Nduka Eze, Mokwugo Okoye, Raji Abdallah, Ikenna Nzimiro, Anthony Enahoro, among others

“What added to your mystique is that the more the incarceration, the more popular The Boy is Good became. It is a tribute to a rare courage, perseverance, uncompromising principle, sacrifice, stoic heroism, patriotic dispositions and extra-ordinary faith in the struggle for Nigerian independence that earned you a Member of the Parliament at 29, parliamentary Secretary and subsequently the Minister of Aviation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the First Republic.
“When last the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo paid a courtesy call on you, I was happy to discover that those passionate, revolutionary, oratorical, edifying zest and robust intellect that characterize most freedom fighters are still very intact in you.
“It is our prayers that you will live to harvest the fruit of your dreams for Ndigbo in a united prosperous Nigeria that guarantees justice, equity and fairness to all.
“On behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and indeed all the great Igbo sons and daughters, please accept our congratulations as we wish you many more fruitful years.
