Oby Ezekwesili Receives New International Appointment

Former Nigerian Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has been appointed as an Advisor to the Club de Madrid, a prestigious global organization comprising democratic former Presidents and Prime Ministers.

Ezekwesili made the announcement via her official X handle on Tuesday, expressing her enthusiasm about joining the group.

Describing the Club de Madrid, she stated that it is “the world’s largest forum of democratic former Presidents and Prime Ministers, who leverage their individual and collective leadership experience and global reach to strengthen inclusive democratic practices and enhance the well-being of people across the globe.”

In her post, Ezekwesili emphasized the urgency of strong global leadership amid increasing global complexity. “As our global context becomes even more complex, the leadership vacuum delays solutions to global public bads,” she wrote.

She praised the continued commitment of the forum’s members to addressing global challenges and promoting international cooperation, adding, “I’m delighted to support their efforts.”
