The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Tuesday reunited 128 rescued kidnap victims with their families in Abuja.
According to Ribadu, the victims, mostly women and children, were freed by security forces in two separate operations in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. He noted that the returnees would undergo trauma care and rehabilitation to enable them to reintegrate smoothly into their communities.
The NSA commended the security forces for their bravery and assured that those behind the abductions would be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Major General Adamu Laka, disclosed that one of the rescued children died of illness, while a premature baby delivered during the operation is currently receiving medical care in an incubator.
