Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has declared that he will serve only one four-year term if elected governor of Enugu State in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a consultative meeting with supporters and stakeholders across the state, Nnaji said his decision is rooted in respect for Enugu’s zoning arrangement, which he described as key to maintaining political balance among the senatorial districts.
He noted that the rotation principle indicates Enugu West Senatorial District should produce the next governor by 2031, stressing that he has no intention of disrupting that structure.
Nnaji also expressed confidence in delivering economic transformation within four years, citing his background as an entrepreneur and his tenure in public office. He promised to focus on industrialisation, job creation, and harnessing the state’s natural and human resources without increasing the tax burden on citizens.
Referencing the legacy of former governor Jim Nwobodo, Nnaji argued that impactful leadership does not require extended time in office but vision and competence.
He assured supporters that his administration would lay a strong economic foundation and ensure continuity beyond his tenure, while urging unity toward building a more prosperous Enugu State.
