The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Charles Anosike, and the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Danjuma Ismaila, on Monday sealed a strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja.
The agreement, executed at NiMet’s headquarters, is designed to enhance cooperation in professional training, capacity building, and service delivery within Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological industries.
Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will share training facilities, offer advisory support for aviation-related programmes, and organise specialised short- and long-term courses for NiMet staff. The collaboration will also feature staff exchange initiatives and joint training programmes.
Additionally, the partnership provides for the use of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, to deliver aviation courses that meet International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. Key areas of focus include aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis response, aviation security, air navigation systems, and airport management.
The agreement further makes room for jointly coordinated programmes, including diploma courses in aviation meteorology.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Anosike reiterated NiMet’s dedication to continuous human capital development, stressing that sustained investment in training and institutional collaboration is essential for achieving operational excellence and ensuring safe, efficient air navigation in Nigeria.
The MoU is expected to strengthen ties between the two federal agencies and improve the standard of aviation training nationwide.
