A 27-year-old Nigerian fashion designer, Samuel Chinecherem Ezeh, has made history by breaking a Guinness World Record with a robe featuring the longest sleeves ever created.
The young tailor and student of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State stunned the fashion world with sleeves measuring an incredible 51.20 metres (167.97 ft).
To put it in perspective, Ezeh’s robe sleeves are longer than the Statue of Liberty in New York (46.5 metres) and even an Olympic-size swimming pool (50 metres).
Speaking after his record was confirmed, Ezeh said the project took creativity, determination, and countless hours of work. His dream is to showcase the robe across the world as a symbol of innovation and Nigerian talent.
“I wish to take it on a tour to display it in different countries and cities to show the world what it looks like,” he said.
The achievement has been hailed as a major inspiration for Nigerian youths and a boost for the country’s fast-growing fashion industry. Many see it as proof that with perseverance and originality, Nigerian creatives can stand out on the global stage.
Ezeh now joins the ranks of Nigerians who have earned a place in the Guinness World Records through extraordinary feats, from marathon cooking challenges to artistic innovations.
For him, however, this is just the beginning. “This robe is a message,” he noted. “It tells young people that nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it.”
