Nigerian Army Nab Suspect, Confiscate 100 Rounds of Ammunition in Plateau State

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have announced the arrest of a suspected terrorist ammunition courier, while also recovering 100 rounds of ammunition from the suspect during a sting operation in the Kuka community of Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to security sources, the intelligence-led operation which culminated in the arrest of the terrorist at about 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, was carried out by the troops operating under Sector 9, Sub-Sector 91 of the task force.

A security source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the suspect was apprehended while in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition believed to be meant for a terrorist group operating around Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State and neighbouring states.

He stated that preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspect is a member of the terrorist group and was also observed to have a gunshot wound believed to have been sustained during an attack in Benue State in 2024.

“The suspect and the recovered ammunition are currently in custody as investigations continue,” the security source added.
