President Bola Tinubu on Monday administered the oath of office to Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs during a brief ceremony at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The ceremony was attended by the ministers’ spouses, senior government officials and members of the Federal Executive Council.
Their appointments followed the resignations of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions. The Senate confirmed both nominees on May 6, 2026.
Tegbe, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience in fiscal, economic and institutional reforms across both public and private sectors. A First Class Civil Engineering graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, he also holds master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration.
Before his appointment, Tegbe served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he spearheaded major reform initiatives and advised governments and leading organisations, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Shell, Huawei, General Electric and MTN.
Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose to become Permanent Secretary in 2016 before retiring in 2017. During his distinguished diplomatic career, he served in Nigeria’s missions in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom and India.
Until his appointment, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
