Oyo Demolishes Kidnappers’ Hideout Linked to Adelabu’s Sister’s Abduction

The Oyo State Government on Monday demolished a building allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers who abducted Mrs. Busayo John-Paul, the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.

The demolition, carried out by officials of the Ministry of Lands and Housing in collaboration with security agencies, was part of the government’s efforts to reinforce its zero-tolerance policy against criminal activities across the state.

Authorities said the action followed intelligence reports linking the structure to the criminal gang responsible for the abduction of Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The victims were kidnapped on June 3 along the Elewura area of Ring Road, Ibadan, while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.

Their freedom was later secured through a coordinated operation by the Nigeria Police Force, which resulted in the killing of two suspected kidnappers and the arrest of several others connected to the crime.

Government officials disclosed that investigations conducted after the rescue operation identified the demolished building as one of the locations where the victims were allegedly held during their captivity.

The state government maintained that the demolition sends a strong message to criminal elements that Oyo State will not provide safe havens for kidnappers and other perpetrators of violent crimes.

Further details are expected as investigations continue.
