The Nigerian Army has declared a three-day period of national mourning in honour of the brave soldiers who lost their lives during recent terrorist attacks in Niger State.
According to reports, armed terrorists launched deadly assaults on the communities of Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka, resulting in the deaths of several soldiers and leaving many others critically wounded. In the fierce exchange, the army confirmed that numerous terrorists were also neutralised.
In a solemn announcement posted via the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the mourning period was set for June 25 to 27, during which all Nigerian Army formations and units were instructed to fly the army flag at half-mast.
The statement read:
“During this period, we pay our deepest respects to these fallen heroes and extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones.
Their unwavering dedication, valour, and sacrifice in defence of our nation will forever be remembered and cherished.”
The army reaffirmed its commitment to honouring the legacy of the fallen while continuing its fight against terrorism and all threats to national security.
