NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Schedules Re-Sit for Core Subjects

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

According to a press statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the exam, which was conducted nationwide in 12 subjects. The examination took place from May 12 to May 23, 2025.

The release of the results was announced on Wednesday following the conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee meeting, held at NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Folake Olatunji David—who also serves as the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education—commended the smooth conduct of the examination and the transparency of the result-processing procedures.

“We are pleased with the integrity of the process that led to the release of these results. The collaboration between NECO and education stakeholders across the country was commendable,” she stated.

The committee meeting was attended by school principals from across Nigeria, alongside senior NECO officials. The session also included discussions on student performance trends and improvements in the examination process.

In a related development, NECO has announced a re-sit for candidates who did not meet the minimum requirements in key subjects. The re-sit, scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025, will focus on Mathematics and English Studies.

The Council has urged schools and students to check the results on its official website and make necessary preparations for the supplementary exam.

The BECE is a compulsory assessment for students completing Junior Secondary School before advancing to Senior Secondary School. NECO reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining credible and transparent examinations for Nigerian students.
