The Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State has commended the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), popularly known as Pyrates Confraternity, Zanas Deck, for organising a medical outreach that served more than 120 residents.
The initiative, tagged “Ophthalmological and Medical Outreach,” took place at Paddington Mini Stadium, Barrack Bus Stop, in collaboration with BioFem Pharmaceutical Company.
Residents benefited from free eye screenings, prescription glasses, medical consultations, and distribution of prescribed medications.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman of Surulere LGA, Prince Muiz Dosumu, praised NAS and its pharmaceutical partner for delivering essential healthcare services to the grassroots. He highlighted the importance of partnerships between non-governmental organisations and private firms in supporting government efforts to improve primary healthcare services.
Dosumu reaffirmed the council’s readiness to back programmes that promote residents’ wellbeing, especially senior citizens and other vulnerable groups with limited access to medical care.
President of NAS Zanas Deck, Babatunde Oluwafemi Adeolu, restated the association’s dedication to humanitarian causes, noting that the outreach forms part of its wider public health initiatives. He urged stronger collaboration among stakeholders and relevant government bodies to uplift disadvantaged members of society.
Adeolu also emphasised that the Pyrates Confraternity is not associated with cultism or unlawful activities, but remains committed to positive social impact.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the outreach as timely and impactful, and appealed for its continuity and expansion to reach more residents within the local government area.
