Major roads across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were largely deserted after security operatives mounted blockades in different parts of the city.
Along the Nyanya–FCT Expressway, heavy gridlock was recorded as soldiers restricted movement, preventing vehicles from entering or exiting Abuja. The development left commuters stranded and caused significant traffic congestion along the corridor.
In a similar development, police operatives barricaded the Apo–Nyanya axis, leaving several travellers stuck for hours, with fears they might remain stranded until the close of voting at 4 p.m.
In Karu, a woman was reportedly arrested for allegedly distributing money openly. However, her identity was not disclosed to journalists.
At Nyanya, voter turnout appeared low, with only a few residents seen arriving at polling units as of 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Olusola Odumosu, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise. He noted that no major incidents had been reported and awarded the process a pass mark.
However, he warned that security personnel would deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt the exercise, stressing that officers on ground were fully prepared to subdue troublemakers.
