The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed strong support for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to humanitarian service and youth development despite recent criticisms.
In a statement signed by its Senate President, Usman Adamu Nagwza, NANS described the attacks against Seyi Tinubu as “unprovoked vilification and media blackmail” orchestrated by political opportunists and clout-chasers seeking to derail his positive impact.
Nagwza noted that while such voices may be loud, they lack merit and should not distract Seyi from his path of service.
“The brilliance of a man whose heart beats for the people cannot be dimmed by naysayers,” the statement read. “You cannot rewrite the truth with propaganda, nor derail a destiny rooted in service and goodwill.”
Commending Seyi Tinubu’s contributions to youth empowerment and nation-building, NANS praised his humility, accessibility, and philanthropy, despite his privileged background.
“It defies logic that someone like Seyi Tinubu, who could have chosen a life of comfort and detachment, instead opted to serve, uplift, and invest in the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” Nagwza said. “To now see such a man being vilified for acts of compassion is shameful and intellectually dishonest.”
The student body also clarified that recent internal disputes within NANS, particularly those involving Isah Abubakar, are strictly internal matters and have no connection to Seyi Tinubu.
“Attempts to drag Mr. Seyi Tinubu into unrelated organizational politics are not only irresponsible but also a desperate act of deflection by those unwilling to build,” the statement said.
Describing him as “a youth ambassador, bridge-builder, and consistent ally of Nigerian students,” NANS concluded by urging Seyi Tinubu to stay focused and committed, assuring him that history will be kind to his efforts.
“On behalf of millions of Nigerian students, we say thank you. Continue your good works. You are a light in a generation that desperately needs it,” the statement concluded.
