NACOMYO ALLEGES MAKINDE MARGINLISING MUSLIMS

The National Council of Muslim Youths Organisation in Oyo State has decried the alleged marginalisation of Muslims in the state by Governor Seyi Makinde.

It alleged that Makinde’s administration marginalised Muslims in the areas of political appointments and approval of Islamic holidays.

The group said its members were left with no other choice but to vote against the governor in 2023.

The state Coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Dawood Afolabi, who made the disclosure at the special prayers and lecture for the commencement of

Hijrah 1442 held at the Central Mosque, Ojaaba, Ibadan, on Thursday, said much was expected from the governor.

Dwelling on the lecture titled, ‘Political development in Oyo State and the Muslims,’ Afolabi said, “It is disheartening that despite the promise of fairness and justice by the present administration and continued lip-service to same at functions, Muslims are still being treated with disdain in government appointments.

However, the governor in a message on Hijrah 1442 AH, wished Muslims a new year filled with blessings and benevolence of the Almighty Allah.

Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, declined to comment on the issue.

According to him, the governor has been fair to all and is determined to serve every group in the state regardless of class or creed.

“The governor has addressed Muslims on the Hijrah celebration. There is nothing to add,” he said.
