Senator Prof. Ike Ekwermmadu, The three time former Deputy Senate President of the Nigeria and former President of ECOWAS Parliament has explained that his relationship with Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State as being nothing but very cordial.
Ekweremmadu, who is the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, stated this during a visit to his residence by some Igbo – Etiti professionals. Describing Governor Ugwuanyi as a friend and brother, he stressed that both of them have come a long way and that rumour peddlers who are speculating that he is having problem with Ugwanyi are liars.
The veteran lawmaker described Igbo – Etiti as one of his strongest support base, saying that, “If there were to be an election today in our party or the state , we are sure to get 80% of Igbo Etiti votes’ and assured that the support will not be taken for granted.

“What we are seeking is the power to move Enugu State to greater heights and put it in an enviable position among the committee of states in the country. It’s going to be a revolution and I am happy that Igbo – Etiti and indeed Nsukka Zone has got lots of human resources that will partner with us and engineer the revolutionary process”.
The leader of the group, Engr. Okey Okeagu, while making his speech thanked the senator for his generosity towards his people stating that the senator is like a man representing the whole of enugu and not just a part of it, as they have not seen such leadership before.
“We decided to be part of the Ikeoha Project to thank you for your numerous projects across Nsukka Zone despite the fact you the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone. We have inaugurated ward executives of our support group across the entire Igbo Etiti and we can assure you that Igbo Etiti is 100% behind you. May God bless you. We will continue to pray you and be rest assured of our maximum support”, he said.
Before the visit of the professionals, the Hausa Community in Nsukka led by their leader Alhj. Mohammed Azaga paid the senator a courtesy visit, also assuring him of the unwavering support of the Hausa Community.
