Mbappe Double Seals PSG Win as Messi makes debut

Kylian Mbappe produced a brilliant two-goal display to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-0 victory over Stade de Reims on Sunday evening.

It was a bittersweet night for PSG, as Lionel Messi made his long-awaited debut as a second half substitute, but Mbappe‘s excellent performance came on what could be his final appearance for the Parisian club.

The French superstar put the visitors ahead after 16 minutes, as he was on hand to guide home a perfectly weighted cross from Angel Di Maria at the front post.

Reims began to grow into the game, and were almost level just before the break, as a fierce strike from Moreto Cassama crashed off the post before bouncing wide.

The home side looked to have equalised after 51 minutes as Marshall Munetsi turned home from close range, but VAR spotted an offside in the build-up and the goal was chalked off.

With 63 minutes on the clock and Messi limbering up on the touchline for his debut, Mbappe made it 2-0 with his second goal of the night, as he drilled home a teasing Achraf Hakimi cross following a stunning team move.

Messi then came on to replace Neymar and immediately began to link up with Mbappe in a bright display, as PSG maintained their perfect start to the Ligue 1 season.
