Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has claimed that playing at the Club World Cup in 2025 “killed” the team.
Perez was speaking to reporters on Monday morning.
According to him, the competition deprived the players of a proper preseason and affected them when the new season began.
The Club World Cup killed us this season,” Perez said.
“We didn’t have a preseason, and after three months we had 28 injuries.
It’s a learning experience. I want to play in the Club World Cup, but not by throwing away a whole season.”
Real Madrid have now gone two consecutive seasons without winning a single trophy and are set to announce Jose Mourinho as their new manager this summer.
