Lagos Man Fatally Shot After Nightclub Dispute, Police Probe Incident

Tension gripped Iyana Isashi in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State after suspected gunmen shot a man, identified simply as Alex, who later died from his injuries.

The victim, popularly known as Fleximore, was reportedly accosted by two men on a motorcycle on his way to meet a friend.

Eyewitnesses said one of the assailants pulled out a gun and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.

The attack happened around 8:00 p.m. last Friday, according to residents. A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, said the gunshot alerted passersby.

“Alex had just returned from work and stepped out again, likely to meet a friend. He was stopped by two men on a bike and shot. People rushed to help after hearing the gunshot and found him lying in a pool of blood,” the source recounted.

He was rushed to the hospital but slipped into a coma. Despite efforts by doctors, he died on Wednesday morning.

“We lost him this morning. He had been unconscious since Friday, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it,” the resident added.

The deceased was said to have had an altercation at a local nightclub the night before the attack.

Another community member, identified simply as Quadri, told reporters that some of Alex’s companions confirmed he got into a heated argument with a group of men at the club.

“It escalated into a fight, although it was later settled. That is very unusual of him because Alex was an easy-going person. People now believe the shooting might be linked to that incident,” Quadri explained.

Preparations are reportedly underway for Alex’s burial.

When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not immediately aware of the incident but promised to confirm details from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
