Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa Votes in Peaceful Local Government Elections

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, participated in the ongoing local government elections on Saturday, casting his vote in a calm and orderly atmosphere.

Obasa exercised his franchise at Polling Unit 019, Ward E, situated on Oluwole Olaniyan Street in the Orile Agege area of the state. On arrival, he briefly interacted with election officials and exchanged pleasantries with residents before proceeding to vote.

Addressing the press shortly after casting his ballot, the Speaker expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exercise, commending the absence of violence or disruptions.

“So far, the process has been peaceful and devoid of any form of rancour. It’s encouraging to see citizens turning out to perform their democratic duties,” Obasa noted.

He praised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, for its efforts in facilitating a seamless voting process and emphasized the importance of credible elections in strengthening democratic governance.

The Speaker also encouraged eligible voters who were yet to cast their votes to come out and do so, reiterating that participation in elections is both a right and a responsibility.

“Voting is not only a civic right but also a duty. I urge every eligible resident to take part in this process,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the integrity of the electoral exercise, Obasa stressed that the outcome would reflect the true will of the people. He further called for transparency, fairness, and adherence to due process throughout the election.
