The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has issued a public warning about fraudulent donation requests circulating on social media, falsely claiming to be for the installation of an X-ray machine at Dambatta General Hospital.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, clarified that neither the hospital nor the board is involved in any fundraising campaign.
She explained that the scam messages include phone numbers and bank account details, but emphasized that these are not legitimate.
“A philanthropist indeed pledged to donate an X-ray machine worth ₦6.9 million to Dambatta General Hospital, but the equipment has not yet been delivered,” Suleiman stated. “No staff or hospital official has seen the machine—only a receipt has been provided so far.”
She urged the public to be vigilant and avoid sending money to anyone claiming to be collecting donations on behalf of the hospital.
“These donation requests are false and have no connection to the hospital or the board. We urge everyone to remain cautious and not fall victim to fraud,” she added
