Prominent Itsekiri political leaders and stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have come together in a show of unity, formally endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which took place in Warri, Delta State, marks the first major gathering of Itsekiri APC leaders since Governor Oborevwori’s defection from the PDP to the APC. During the event, the stakeholders commended both Tinubu and Oborevwori for their impressive performance in governance and their dedication to national and state development.
Hon. Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, who represents Warri Federal Constituency, declared that the Itsekiri Nation has made a decisive move by aligning with the APC to contribute to Nigeria’s growth. A vote of confidence in both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was passed unanimously by the leaders.
The motion was moved by Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayone Mayuku and seconded by Hon. Oritsetimeyi Orugboh, with a promise that the Itsekiri people would deliver full electoral support for both leaders in 2027.
Speaking after the closed-door session, Chief Ayiri Emami, a prominent businessman and APC chieftain, expressed his joy at the renewed unity among the Itsekiri political class after over a decade of political divisions.
“It’s a thing of joy to see everyone come together under one roof again after 11 years,” Emami said. “We’ve decided to put our differences aside and work together in support of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.”
Reflecting on his own political journey, Emami noted, “I once left to follow my leader, President Tinubu, but now we are all reunited. Today’s vote of confidence shows that Itsekiri is back—stronger and more united than ever.”
He emphasized that the meeting signaled a new chapter for the Itsekiri Nation, adding:
“We’re returning as one family, and the unity we’ve shown today will reflect in the next election. The Itsekiri are committed to giving full support to both the President and the Governor.”
