The premiere episode of the Big Brother Naija Season 9 Reunion, which aired Monday night, kicked off with intense drama as former housemates and ex-lovers Zion and Chinwe clashed over who initiated their breakup.
Zion claimed he was the one who ended the relationship, saying their life goals no longer aligned.
“I basically ended things,” he said, when asked by show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu why the relationship ended.
He added, “I felt like we were moving in different places in our lives; how she let it play out.”
Chinwe immediately pushed back, accusing Zion of being dishonest.
“What Zion will not do is sit here and lie on me now,” she responded sharply.
“You could have owned the narrative, my love. What do you mean you broke up with me?”
She went on to recount a specific incident that she said triggered the split. According to Chinwe, Zion went out clubbing all night on the eve of her departure, ignoring her request to spend time together before her travel the next day.
She said he turned off his phone and later claimed he couldn’t get transportation, yet still managed to visit a friend nearby instead of coming home.
Chinwe also revealed that Zion’s family and friends harbor resentment toward her, allegedly because she disclosed during the show that she financially supported him to get into Big Brother Naija.
The reunion has already stirred strong reactions among fans, with many anticipating more revelations in the episodes to come.
