Ishaku presents N139.4bn budget to Taraba Assembly

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, on Friday presented a budget estimate of N139,460,435,961.80 for the 2021 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage.

Tagged, “budget of restoration and stabilization,” the chunk of the budget went to recurrent expenditure with an estimate of N82,910,408,650, representing 59.45 per cent, while the capital expenditure proposal was pegged at N56,550,387,310.90 representing 40.55 per cent.

Presenting the budget before the House, Ishaku assured that his government would take close monitoring of the budget implementation to ensure discipline and adherence to best global practices.

The 2021 budget proposal is N76 billion less than that of 2020 which was N215. 82 billion.

Ishaku told the lawmakers that the economic sector got the highest share of N30.06 billion while the administration got the least amount with N5.65 billion.

According to him, the 2020 budget performance was not as expected due to his domestic accident and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Ishaku said his administration was determined to completing all ongoing projects to ensure total transformation of the state for economic growth and development.

Speaker of the House, Joseph Kunini, assured the governor that the members would work assiduously for a speedy passage of the bill.
