IN ILORIN, HIT AND RUN DRIVER KILLS MOTORCYCLIST

A hit-and-run driver in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday knocked down a commercial motorcyclist, killing him instantly.

The incident occurred around 4.10pm on a flyover along Murtala Muhammed Road, Ilorin.

An eyewitness said the hit-and-run driver and the motorcyclist were speeding when their vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist died on the spot, while his passenger sustained severe injuries.

The driver was said to have sped off without bothering to find out the fate of the motorcyclist and his passenger, the witness said.

The injured was reportedly taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital by officers of the Kwara State Traffic Management Agency.

When contacted, the spokesman for the state police command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the accident.
