The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed excitement as the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa, made the list of new Senior Advocates of Nigeria released by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee last week.

Ikpeazu’s position was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka.

The governor described the development as a confirmation that the commissioner has committed himself to the development of law, especially in the area of public interest law.

Ikpeazu said, “As Chief Law Officer of the state, I have relied strongly on his legal advice in the governance of the state.

“I am also aware of the far-reaching reforms he has introduced in the state’s Ministry of Justice and our justice delivery system, and it is indeed heart-warming that the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee has, by the elevation, affirmed all of these.

“I am proud to observe that the hard work Ihediwa has put into my administration has been recognised at the highest level in Nigeria.”

The governor charged the commissioner to see this elevation as a call to work harder in ensuring that the common man continues to enjoy the protection of the law by ensuring that the state’s Ministry of Justice, under his watch, continues to respond positively to ever-changing dynamics of law and justice delivery.
