Rev. Father Mark Godfrey who was kidnapped on October 13, 2021 in Umuahia has regained his freedom. Godfrey was released on Saturday.

The Catholic Diocese of Umuahia announced the release in a statement signed by the Bishop, Lucius Ugorji.

Ugorji thanked God for answering the prayers of the diocese.

He also thanked all those who assisted in prayers during the difficult and trying period the priest was in captivity.

He however did not state whether ransom was paid.

Godfrey of St. Theresa’s Parish, Umuahia, was abducted along Enyiukwu Road, Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area.
