Igbos will no longer accept second-class status in Nigeria – Rep Aguocha

The lawmaker representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Obi Aguocha, says the Igbos will no longer accept second-class citizenship status in Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement posted on the X profile of Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The lawmaker was reacting to the recent statement made by the Eze Ogbunechendo of Ezema Olo Kingdom in Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State, Igwe Lawrence Chikezie Agubuzu.

DAILY POST reports that Igwe Agubuzu openly asked President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu and return him to Kenya or the United Kingdom if they are not comfortable with his presence in Nigeria.

Reacting to the statement of the monarch, Aguocha said true leadership is not about keeping quiet to stay comfortable, but about truth telling, courage and the dexterity to stand up for the people when it matters the most.

“As Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s primary representative, I have remained firm and consistent at representing and advocating for his cause and calling for a quicker yet sustainable political solution towards his unconditional release from detention.

“I stand fully with the bold and courageous invocation by our Royal Father, Igwe Agubuzu. It is refreshing to note a respected elder like him speaking up without fear of intimidation or contradiction, reminding every conscience that justice, equity, and fairness are not selective.

“It is self-evident and constitutionally guaranteed to every Nigeria citizen. We are all equal under the law. My brothers and sisters across Igbo land and beyond, this is truly our moment of renewed hope. When men of such stature rise to demand for what is right and just. It should fire us up even more. Let’s rally stronger now, more than ever, behind Mazi Nnamdi Kanu potential release from detention.

“The ball is truly in your court now, President Tinubu. I pray that you do not lose sight of this glorious moment. Justice delayed is justice denied. Very soon, we will surely remember.

“Ndi Igbo, our unity is our strength, and voices like Igwe Agubuzu’s has shown the world that we are not accepting anymore second-class citizenship status in Nigeria. Together, nothing can stop us,” the lawmaker said.
